Jules & Elaine

Elaine and Jules Durette

As host couple for the Sugar Lake Recreational Sites, we (Jules and Elaine) would like to welcome you to this beautiful area, which is one of our favorite places on this planet. We live at Sugar Lake on the 2-Mile Site from early-May to late-September, and we are committed to maintaining the cleanliness and peacefulness of these recreational sites so that you will have a safe and enjoyable camping experience with us. Because we love this place so much, we feel a sense of pride and responsibility in stewardship of this pristine environment and as ambassadors for the local area.

We have been happily married for 25+ years and are a friendly, well-travelled, bilingual, professional couple. Our combined work history includes golf course management, northern mining, heavy equipment operator, journeyman welder, school teacher, official court reporter, and college instructor of TESL. Over the years, we have enjoyed many experiences of rustic camping in and out of Canada: backpacking in the Canadian Rockies and Mexico, camping across Canada on an extended trip, budget travelling in the Caribbean, Mexico and Central America, backpacking for 10 months on a round-the-world adventure with a focus on Southeast Asia and eastern Europe, and most recently exploring Ecuador, Mexico, and Costa Rica. Through our own travels, we have been consumers of many types and standards of hospitality & tourism services and therefore we know firsthand what creates an enjoyable and memorable experience for us.

We will do our very best to ensure that you have a tranquil and rejuvenating experience in this incredibly peaceful place in the Monashees.
